Goku opened his eyes and surveyed the morning. It was clear and cool, just right for training! Ever since he had returned from defeating Freeza a few months earlier he had felt a calm unlike any he had experienced before. Even with Trunk’s warning of the androids coming, and the chance that he would die from the predicted heart virus didn’t seem to bother him. Getting up quietly so not the wake his still sleeping wife, Chichi, he crept towards the bedroom door.

“Grrrrr.” His stomach loudly reminded the Saiyan that first things came first, and with Goku, the only thing that ever came before training was food. At the growling of his stomach Chichi woke from her light sleep.

“hmm…Goku? Dear, what are you doing up so early?”

“Just getting in some early training.” He answered carefully. She seemed in a good mood this morning, but it was too early to be sure.

“Goku, why can’t you do some training that would be useful, like cleaning the house super fast, or cutting the lawn?” asked Chichi waking up totally.

As with most days it took some time, and every bit of cunning the Saiyin hero possessed to escape the rapidly mounting list of chores Chichi was heaping upon him. He decided it would be safest to head over to Master Roshi’s house for breakfast instead. But while on his way there, he saw smoke wafting up in the distance. Checking his flight, he veered off to investigate. It was a city he had never been to before. Fortunately Goku normally didn’t pay much attention to such things, and so this fact didn’t bother him too much. What he found was a machine reeking havoc downtown.

Was this the android that Trunks had talked about? Trunks had said that they had two years to get ready, but on the other hand he wasn’t dead either, so maybe things had changed. Regardless, he had to stop it before someone got hurt.

In downtown Metropolis, Clark Kent sat in his office pouring over the paper work on the desk in front of him. The telephone rang, and he reached for it just as he felt the building shutter from an impact.

“Hello, Clark Kent of the daily Planet. What? A Robot attacking City Hall? I’ll be right down.”

Rushing out of the office, he called a hurried explanation to his startled co-workers and headed out into the street. Slipping into an abandoned ally, he changed his clothes to become the man of Steel, Super Man. Flying faster then most eyes could follow, he soared off toward the smoke raising from the center of the city.

What he saw as he arrived confused him. Fighting the Robot was a man with wild black hair dressed in orange clothes. The man in orange was flying and shooting energy blasts from his hands. As he shot and fought, the buildings on either side cracked and Super Man could see that there had been explosions in the top floors of many of the surrounding buildings. The stranger shot a beam from his hand that blew the robot completely apart.

“Well that was disappointing.” Said Goku, “I don’t know who would build such a weak weapon. That couldn’t have been the androids Trunks had talked about.”

Suddenly Goku spun around sensing a strong energy near by.

“You!” he said sighting Super Man, “You must be the android sent to stop me!”

Super Man did not understand, but viewing the damage that this stranger had wrought, nodded, “I don’t know about androids, but I am here to stop you.”

The Saiyan nodded. Clenching his fists his face contorted with strain. Focusing, he raised his energy levels to meet this android.

Super Man watched this, and then saw the energy wave that sprang to life around the stranger. Fearing that he meant more harm to the city, Super Man flew forward, connecting hard with the energy wrapped Saiyan, knocking him backward out of the city. Goku, plummeted back and finally struck the side of a mountain, making a crater.

Climbing out, Goku regarded Superman who landed close by. “Not bad, you’re strong, but that was kind of dirty don’t you think?”

Quicker then the eye could follow, Goku flew at Superman and connected a punch that knocked the man of Steel head over heels. Superman corrected his backward flight and rejoined the battle. He could hardly believe the strength of this man before him. They closed on each other, blows falling hard and fast. Goku’s speed and technique were flawless, there was nothing Superman could do to keep them from connecting. However Goku found that they didn’t seem to do much damage to his blue clad opponent. Also the clumsy blows (in contrast to his own) thrown by Superman held a strength that shouldn’t be there. Finally Superman blasted Goku with his heat vision. The Saiyan managed to barely deflect this.

“How did he do that?” He wondered, “I didn’t even feel a change in his Ki!”

Knocking Superman’s feet out from under him with a kick Goku flew backwards and focused his Ki.

Kamehameha” He chanted, and released the energy beam he had summoned.

Superman was expecting such a move, but couldn’t move out of the way in time. The blow hammered him into the stone face of a mountain nearby.

Goku stood silently, puffing a bit from the exertion.

Superman rose out of the rubble and brushed himself off, “I expected more then that.”

“Then I won’t disappoint you!” called Goku and used his instant teleportation technique to appear behind Superman.

However Superman was expecting this, and grabbed Goku as soon as he appeared. Flying across the land, he spotted what he was looking for. Turning to the man he carried he asked, “How long can you hold your breath?” and plunged into the lake he had flown to.

Goku broke Superman’s grip, and continued to fight under water. However Superman didn’t seem to be trying to trade blows with him, merely stop him from surfacing. Goku realized this and tried to disengage and make it to the surface and the air waiting above it, but at that moment Superman, heedless of the damage he recived for the attack, grabbed the Saiyan and with all his strength held him to the bottem. Bubbles escaped from the Saiyan as the man of steel squeezed the remaining air from his burning lungs.

Suddenly something startled the man of Steel. A brilliant golden energy began shining from the stranger in his arms. Before his eyes the man’s iris’ turned from black to green and his hair stood on end and turned golden as well. He felt his arms being pried off, and suddenly he was hurled out of the water. He came crashing down on the shore, but somehow the golden haired fighter was there already. Goku smashed him with an uppercut before he struck the ground, and knocked him back to the earth with an elbow. Superman was awash with pain unlike that he had felt before. Once again he heard that strange word, “Kamehameha” and there was light all around him…and then darkness.

“Hey Dad!” came a voice, “Wake up, Piccolo and I are ready to go!”

Goku opened his eyes to find his son, Gohan standing over him.

“Hey Gohan, I had a really odd dream….”
